Nor'easters dial up 2nd-place effort at UMF Invite

OAKLAND, Maine -- Marcus Costa, Tom Higgins, and Jake Mielcarz all finished in the top five individuals as the University of New England men's golf team notched 302 and took the runner-up spot at the University of Maine-Farmington Invitational on Sunday (Sep. 19) at Waterville Country Club.

Husson University turned in a 293 to claim the title, paced by an even-par round of 70 by Jack King and a 71 from Max Woodman. After the Nor'easters came Colby College (310) and the University of Southern Maine (311) in the eight-team field.

Costa wound up 3rd out of the 40 golfers with a career-low of 73. Higgins and Mielcarz shared 4th at 75, and Jack Sicurella completed the number with 79. Mielcarz and Sicurella also had personal bests.

Hunter Drew tied for 19th with an 82 for UNE, which will participate in the modified-format University of Southern Maine Cup on Thursday at Gorham Country Club.
