Tony Chase paced the University of New England in a 16th-place showing at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Buddy Harris Men's Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning (Sep. 18), from the field of 33 squads.
Division II University of Massachusetts-Lowell cruised to victory with a score of 44, comfortably ahead of Trinity College (107) and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (108). The Nor'easters'Â top-five runners added up to 489.
Chase crossed the line in an 8K time of 25:09 for 23rd out of the 256 competitors. UNE received its other contributions from
Jeff Waters (111th; 27:05),
Nolan Alexander (119th; 27:24),
Diego Fernandez (121st; 27:26), and
Xander Vitarelli (145th; 27:49).
Suffolk University's Matyas Csiki-Fejer was the leading individual, finishing 22 seconds clear of the next closest runner with a time of 23:36.
The Nor'easters return to action in two weeks in New Gloucester at the Maine Championship.
