BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Following a 116-minute weather delay with nearly the entire 4th quarter still on the clock, No.12 Babson College struck three times to secure a 4-1 field hockey decision against the University of New England on Wednesday (Sep. 15) at UNE Blue Bolt Field.

Lightning put a halt to the contest with 14:43 remaining and things knotted at 1-1, and then the skies opened up with rain for a while. The Beavers recorded all four shots the rest of the way, which was played as running time through [the 3 Babson] penalty corners.

Lauren Curley put the visitors ahead with 13:38 left, dribbling through defenders and hitting a reverse shot into the cage. Millie Brady pocketed her second of the day with 2:31 to go for some insurance (3-1); an identical corner play to the game-tying marker early in the 3rd period, which was also assisted by Meara Hanyon. Brianne McGrath capped the scoring with 1:05 showing in the match.

Babson held the UNE offense without a shot or corner during the closing 30 minutes.

The Nor'easters had their share of action prior to halftime, and grabbed the edge (1-0) at the midway break behind a redirected goal by Jillian Lachapelle in the 2nd. Lindsay Bruns assisted on the score.

Cassidy Riley turned in one save for the Beavers (3-0), while Lindsay Pych totaled 12 for UNE (2-3). Babson ended with a 22-6 advantage in shot attempts and 13-7 margin in corners.

It was UNE's third setback in as many outings to a nationally-ranked opponent (#7, #1, #12) after defeating then #16 MIT back on September 4. Four of the previous seven meetings versus Babson had been decided in overtime.

The Nor'easters get their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) schedule -- now a single round-robin of six games -- underway on Saturday with a visit to Salve Regina University.
