BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Jasmine Syed won the individual title by 62 seconds as the University of New England women's cross country team posted a flawless score of 15 to capture the inaugural Ron Ouellette Invitational on Saturday morning (Sep. 11) at Rotary Park.

The meet was named for the former Nor'easter cross country coach, who retired after 20 years at the helm in 2019. He guided the programs to a combined nine conference championships, received a dozen Coach of the Year honors, and was inducted into the institution's Hall of Fame in 2017.

UNE accounted for the initial seven runners in the 5K race, comfortably defeating Saint Joseph's College of Maine and its score of 50.

After Syed's 19:57, Kelsee Gladu (2nd, 20:59), Sarah Kohl (3rd, 21:10), Dani Jewell (4th, 21:12), and Nina Parziale (5th, 21:14) factored in the total for the Nor'easters. Haley Slattery and Megan Fecteau were next, in 6th and 7th, respectively.

UNE heads for the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Invitational next Saturday.
