Nor'easters run, jump at RWU Invitational

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- Rachel Pion sprinted to first-place finishes in both the 100-meter and 200-meter races, and led the 4x400-meter relay to the top spot, as the University of New England women's track & field team competed against Roger Williams University on Saturday (Apr. 24) at Portsmouth High School.

Pion had her best runs of the three meets so far in the 100m (13.46) and 200m (28.22), shaving 0.09 and 0.02 off her previous times.

The Nor'easters' 4x400 relay dropped 15.82 seconds from last week, as Pion, Ashley Kelley, Sarah Kohl, and Erica Dimmick posted a 4:28.73 to comfortably edge the Hawks' group.

With a time of 1:04.98, Dimmick won the 400-meter by an even second.

Sydni Lehr equaled a season-best 9.27m (30'5") in the triple jump to place second, which was the same finish after marking 4.31m (14'1.75") in the long jump.

Dani Jewell and Megan Fecteau each collected a third-place showing on the day, in the 3000-meter (11:55.37) and 800-meter (2:58.42), respectively.

UNE will now prepare for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship next Sunday.
