Nor'easters split virtual meet with Mariners, Eagles

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England women's swimming team competed in a virtual double dual meet with Husson University and Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday (Feb. 27), with each squad at its own pool before the respective results were combined to produce scores. The Nor'easters defeated the Mariners by a 130-107 tally, while the Eagles bested UNE, 167-83.

Kelsey Moulton and Haley Griffin each secured a first-place effort for UNE. Moulton's 29.66 in the 50-yard butterfly was 0.66 faster than the next closest finisher, while Griffin's 50-backstroke time of 31.04 was 0.72 seconds ahead of the field.

A couple individuals claimed second-place in events to support the Nor'easter effort. Korianne Moore touched the wall 1.33 seconds off the pace in the 100-backstroke (1:11.09), and Katie Durrua clocked a 1:08.24 in the 100-butterfly.

The 200-freestyle relay team of Cassidy Coiley, Kheara Zito, Griffin, and Sarah Dalton also swam to a runner-up showing with a time of 1:58.83.

UNE's second of four virtual meets will be next Saturday (12 p.m.) against MMA.
