UNE tops Western New England, 3-1, to snap skid

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The University of New England snapped a four-game skid with a 3-1 victory over Western New England University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's ice hockey action on Friday at the Olympia Ice Center.
 
McKenna Remillard put in her team-leading third goal of the season to get the scoring started for the Nor'easters 3:19 into the first period. Maeve Crehan and Grace Arsenault assisted on the early goal and UNE maintained the advantage into the intermission.
 
The Golden Bears (3-4-1, 1-4-0 CCC) tied the game up at the 11:28 mark of the second with a power play goal by Alyssa Murphy with help from Kelly Yorkey and Allison Walker. Izzy Hendry found Crehan for a tally with 35.8 seconds left in the period to reclaim the lead for UNE.
 
Avery Lutrzykowski added some insurance for the Nor'easters with her first goal of the year early in the third period.
 
Delanie Corcoran made 31 saves in the victory as UNE jumped to 3-6-0 overall and a 3-4-0 in conference play. Rieley Jessie-Gerelli had 33 stops for Western New England.
 
Both teams head to Biddeford tomorrow afternoon for a 4 p.m. puck drop at the Harold Alfond Forum.
