BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- University of New England senior midfielder
Julia Steeves has been selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-America
2nd Team as it was released on Tuesday (Dec. 14).
Steeves is the seventh Nor'easter recognized on the national level, following
Reanna Boulay (2019), Vonde Saunders (2016), Nicole Matarozzo (2016), Holly Smith (2016), Beth Sullivan (2014), and Taryn Flagg (2009). Steeves matches Matarozzo and Smith with the program's highest honors of second team status.
Steeves was a first team NFHCA all-region pick and the Commmonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year from the UNE midfield. She shared third on the squad with five goals scored, including two game-winners, and notched a pair of defensive saves on the other end. Steeves was a key factor in the Nor'easters yielding seven or less shots-on-goal in 12 of 18 contests.
