BIDDEFORD, Maine – Cassidy McNeeley scored twice to help Trinity College defeat the University of New England, 3-0, in a non-conference women's ice hockey tilt on Saturday at the Harold Alfond Forum.
After a scoreless first period, the Bantams pulled in front 12 seconds into the second period. Paige Kehoe forced a turnover in the UNE defensive zone.
Delanie Corcoran was able to save the first shot, but couldn't control the rebound as Kehoe followed her attempt and put it past the Nor'easter goaltender.
McNeeley extended the advantage to 2-0 at the 12:23 mark of the second as she grabbed the puck near the center line and took it the distance, beating Corcoran to the glove side from the slot. She made it 3-0 in favor of Trinity early in the third as she put home the rebound after a blast from Bergen Kobienia.
Shots favored the visitors 43-15 on the day. Corcoran finished with a season-high 40 saves in the loss. Hannah Leclair earned the shutout with 15 stops for Trinity who improve to 2-0-1 on the year. UNE falls to 2-6-0 overall.
