BIDDEFORD, Maine – #12 University of New England scored three times in the first period on its way to a 6-1 victory over in-state rival Bowdoin in men's ice hockey action at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Four different Nor'easters (5-1-1) recorded multi-point games with a goal and assist including
Jimmy Elser who found
Ryan Kuzmich with a pass at center ice to setup the first UNE goal. Kuzmich deked out two Bowdoin defenders and finished to the right corner to put the Nor'easters in front 7:12 into play. [

Jared Christy sliced through the Polar Bear defense after receiving a pass from
Jamey Zanca to added to the Nor'easters lead just under two minutes later [
Watch]. Alexander Vukoda blasted one in from the slot to make it 3-0 after a period. [

Daniel Winslow shoved in a feed from Christy just outside the crease to extend the advantage to 4-0. 1:39 into the second period [
Watch]. A mistimed change by Bowdoin led to UNE having a three-on-zero opportunity and Polar Bear goaltender Alex Kozic, leading to a goal.
Billy Girard IV passed the puck ahead to three Nor'easters on the blue line and Elser and
Jeff Eppright traded passed until Elser finished for UNE. [

Cam Berube put Bowdoin (0-2-0) on the board in the final minute of the third period. Eppright added a power play goal midway through the third for the final tally for the Nor'easters. [

Girard IV made 17 saves in the victory.
Aidan Hosein got action for the final 11:51 of the game and stopped nine shots. Kozic had 22 saves for Bowdoin in defeat.
UNE returns to action on Friday, Dec. 3 at home against Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Western New England at 7 p.m.
