Statistics

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England scored power play goals 1:08 apart in the second period to turn a deficit into an advantage on its way to a 3-2 victory over #8 Endicott College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's hockey tilt on Friday evening.

The victory marked the first in program history (1-15-0) against a ranked opponent by the Nor'easters, who improve to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. UNE also snapped a seven-game winless streak against the Gulls (3-1, 2-1 CCC).

Endicott got on the board first at the 14:17 mark of the first period as Quin Healy found Courtney Sullivan in front for a one-time shot past Delanie Corcoran. Abbi Charvat won a faceoff back to McKenna Remillard who blasted a shot to the top right corner to tie the game late in the period. [Watch]

Morgan Sisson skated past two UNE defenders and chipped a shot to the top corner to put the Gulls back in front, 2-1, 3:22 into the second period.

Carolyn Curley lifted the puck past Bailey Thieben after a scramble in front of the net for a power play goal to tie the game 2-2 with 5:58 left in the second [Watch]. Seconds later, a roughing call gave UNE another extra-skater advantage, and Bella Crugnale was able to put home a rebound off the back wall to give the Nor'easters the lead for good. [Watch]

The Gulls, who held a 33-13 advantage in shots, continued to pressure in the third period. Madison Hentosh nearly tied it early in the period, but her shot ricocheted off the post and was eventually held by Corcoran. The Nor'easters withstood a late 6-on-4 by Endicott to hold on for the win.

Corcoran made a season-best 31 saves in the victory. Thieben had 10 stops for the Gulls.

Both teams return to the ice tomorrow afternoon at Bourque Arena in Beverly, Mass. at 3 p.m.
