BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Lindsay Bruns netted a 1st-quarter hat trick as the University of New England dominated Nichols College to the tune of an 8-2 field hockey victory to conclude the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) schedule in the rain on Saturday (Oct. 30) at Blue Bolt Field.

The Nor'easters (10-6) secure the outright regular-season title with the win, completing the league campaign undefeated (6-0) for the third time in program history. UNE has now finished with the best CCC record eight times in 18 years. The tournament top seed will host a team yet to be determined in the semifinals on Thursday night.

Bruns was the only multiple goal scorer for the hosts, finding the back of the net in the 4th, 13th, and 14th minutes for her first career three-goal performance. Jillian Lachapelle, Georgia Eson, and Bailey Lynch assisted on those markers. [Watch 1, Watch 2, Watch 3]

All four Nor'easter seniors in uniform tallied goals along the way, with Lachapelle (9th [Watch]), Julia Steeves (23rd [Watch]), Lynch (27th [Watch]), and Haylee Angster (42nd [Watch]).

Lynch and Kate Lindmark finished with two assists each. Abigail Symbol notched her first collegiate goal of the 29th minute to give UNE a 7-0 lead at halftime [Watch]. The Nor'easters accounted for all 13 shots and all six penalty corners during the initial two periods.

The eight UNE goals were the most in a game since back in 2017.

Lindsay Pych did not need to make a save to pick up the decision in 30 minutes of work for the Nor'easters.

Dana Edwards put two on the board for Nichols in the 4th (53rd, 60th), with corner assists from Erin Anthony. Sophia Venable and Megan Fuchs split the goalkeeping time for the Bison (7-10, 0-6 CCC), combining for 10 saves.
