Statistics

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Jillian Lachapelle scored the go-ahead goal in the 42nd minute and added an insurance penalty stroke with 12 seconds remaining as the University of New England defeated Roger Williams University, 3-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey action Saturday afternoon (Oct. 2) at Blue Bolt Field.

Winners of three in-a-row, the Nor'easters (6-4, 3-0 CCC) have now taken all 16 contests since the two programs began squaring off. The Hawks slip back to 5-4 overall, 1-2 in league dates.

Lachapelle also assisted on UNE's opening tally in the 6th minute, slipping a pass over to Julia Steeves for a drive inside the right post and a 1-0 edge. With the season-high five points, Lachapelle now leads the Nor'easters in all scoring categories.

Roger Williams knotted the score with a few minutes to go in the 2nd quarter, as Hannah Palmer found the back of the cage off a feed from Lauren Costanzo.

UNE controlled much of the action following halftime, amassing sizable cushions in shots (10-2) and corners (7-1). Lachapelle's deciding marker came off an insert by Kate Lindmark.

Lindsay Pych recorded three saves for the Nor'easters, who get a week to prepare before visiting Gordon College next Saturday. On the opposite end for RWU, Callie Flanagan totaled seven stops.
