SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Jasmine Syed topped a 72-runner field as the University of New England women's cross country team secured 1st place out of seven at the Western New England University Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 16).

It was the second victory of the season for the Nor'easters, who scored 46 to edge out Salve Regina University (58) and Bridgewater State University (58). Roger Williams University (65), in fourth, was the only school with three runners in the top 10.

Syed's 6K time of 23:46 was good for an eight-second margin over Shayna Cousineau of Rhode Island College. She earlier won the Ron Ouellette Invitational.

Kelsee Gladu came in 5th with a time of 24:54 to support the UNE cause. Megan Fecteau (11th; 26:05), Nina Parziale (12th; 26:06), and Haley Slattery (21st; 27:02) rounded out the scoring group.

The Nor'easters will return to the WNEU campus in two weeks for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship race.
