SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team received top-10 performances from
Tony Chase and
Diego Fernandez on the way to finishing 3rd out of 10 institutions on Saturday (Oct. 16) at the Western New England University Invitational.
SUNY Cobleskill led the field with a score of 27, which included the top three runners and individual winner Eamonn Sullivan, who clocked an 8K time of 26:03.
Roger Williams University (50) was the other squad ahead of the Nor'easters (79), while Bridgewater State University was fourth at 109.
Chase took 4th on his own with a time of 26:51, from the field of 97 runners. Fernandez wound up 9th in 28:04.
Chris DeYoung (18th; 28:50),
KJ Jasani (23rd; 29:01), and
Xander Vitarelli (28th; 29:30) completed the UNE total.
The Nor'easters will take two weeks before returning to the same course for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship.
