#17 Colby defeats UNE, 22-10

BIDDEFORD, Maine – #17 Colby College women's lacrosse team earned a 22-10 victory over the University of New England in non-conference action at UNE Blue Bolt Field on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Eleven different Mules recorded a goal, led by Annie Eddy with five. Taylor Moore added four goals. Emma Banks, Gianna Bruno, and Grace Toner each scored twice.
 
Casey Conwell led the UNE offense with four goals and an assist. She eclipsed the 100-career point mark with her efforts. Keara Dwyer and Molly Camelo added a pair of goals each. The 10 goals scored by the Nor'easters are their most-ever against the Mules and a nationally-ranked opponent.
 
The game remained close early as UNE trailed by just one at the 22:02 mark of the first half. Colby used a four-goal run to open an 8-3 lead, but tallies by Dwyer and Conwell trimmed deficit to three near the midway point of the half.
 
Colby took control from there, scoring the final eight goals of the period to take a 16-5 lead into the break. The Mules led by as many as 14 before a three-score spurt by the Nor'easters made it 20-9 with 9:59 to play, the closest UNE would get the rest of the way.
 
Emily Podgorni backstopped the victory with two saves. Madison Bruzzese had five stops over the opening 30 minutes to lead UNE.
 
The Nor'easters are on the road at Babson on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
