BIDDEFORD, Maine Brendan Donohue scored with 1:15 left in the third period to pull #8 University of New England into a 2-2 tie with Curry College at the Harold Alfond Forum on Friday night.

UNE (13-3-2, 9-1-1 CCC) found itself with a late power play and pulled goaltender Ben Churchfield to get a 6-on-4 opportunity in the final minutes of the third. Donohue was able to put back the rebound off a shot by Tyler Seltenreich with a crowd in front of the net to score the tying goal [Watch]. Chris Jones also assisted on the play.

Liam Darcy scored from the blue line in the first period to give the Nor'easters the early lead [Watch] and spark the 4th Annual Teddy Bear Toss celebration. Alex Sheehy and Liam Neuman registered assists on the goal.

The Colonels (12-3-3, 7-2-2) knotted the game with 7:56 to play in the second period on a power play goal by Mic Curran with help from Billy Vizzo and Justin Ketola. Just under two minutes later, Matthew Henderson added a shorthanded score to put Curry in front, 2-1, heading into the final frame.

Following the equalizer by the Nor'easters, neither team could score in the five-on-five overtime period. Officially declared a tie, the new CCC overtime format sent the game into a three-on-three period to split the three possible points and UNE's Jimmy Elser secured two for the hosts with the help of Neuman and Dimitris Jones [Watch].

Churchfield made 28 saves on the night for UNE, which outshot Curry 40-30. Ketola had 38 stops for the visitors.

Both teams return to the ice tomorrow afternoon at 2:50 p.m. at the Canton Ice House in Canton, Mass.
