SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College women's hockey team scored all its goals in the second period on its way to a 4-0 victory over the University of New England on Friday night.
Maddie Gervais provided the first goal for the Knights with 12:43 to go in the second period. Ella Saracco put in a short-handed score to extend the lead to 2-0. Saint Michael's made the most of two late 5-on-3 opportunities to put the game out of reach. Saracco scored her second of the night and Maeghan Kennard added another just 28 seconds later to make the score 4-0. Jondan Monbouquette had two assists.
The Nor'easters outshot the Knights 18-3 in the third period, but were unable to break through. UNE held a 47-21 advantage in total shots in the contest. Vika Simons stopped all 47 shots to earn the win in net.
Julia Benjamin had 17 saves for the Nor'easters.
The teams will play again tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
