UNE and Becker tie, 1-1

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England and Becker College skated to a 1-1 tie in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) women's hockey action at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Nor'easters (11-4-2, 6-2-2 CHC) doubled up on the Hawks in shots at 42-21 overall, but were able to get just one past Becker goaltender Madelyn Morgan.
 
Kylian Kelly and Katie Puumala fed the puck up the boards to Cassidhe Wozniak for a one-on-one midway through the second period. Wozniak launched a shot from the top of the right circle past Julia Benjamin to put the Hawks (6-10-1, 2-7-1 CHC) in front 1-0.
 
The score remained until 2:23 left in regulation when Marykate Drinkwater put back the rebound off a shot from Bella Crugnale to tie the score [Watch]. Jessie Scott setup the three-on-one that led to the goal with a pass ahead from the defensive zone. UNE outshot Becker 4-2 in the extra period.
 
Morgan had 41 saves for the Hawks. Benjamin added 20 stops for the Nor'easters.
 
UNE visits Colby for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 4:30 p.m.
