WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of New England women's ice hockey team defeated Becker, 5-0, in a Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) matchup at the Worcester Ice Center on Friday night.
Kyra Yu scored twice in the second period to put the Nor'easters in front for good.
Tatum Gietl and
Kenady Nevicosi assisted on the opening score at the 14:13 mark of the stanza. Nevicosi added another assist on the second goal with 3:30 remaining until intermission.
The trio combined for another goal midway through the third as Yu and Nevicosi found Gietl for her fourth of the season.
Jenna Pych made it 4-0 off an assist from
Jessie Scott with 7:43 to play in the game. Nevicosi added the final tally on her own only 23 seconds later.
Julia Benjamin had 32 saves in her second shutout of the Hawks this season and fifth overall. Amber Lee made 36 stops for Becker.
Both teams return to the ice tomorrow at the Harold Alfond Forum at 4 p.m.
