Nor’easters blank Huskies, 4-0

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England women's ice hockey team completed the season sweep of Southern Maine with a 4-0 victory at the Harold Alfond Forum on Tuesday evening.
 
Bella Crugnale redirected a pass from McKenna Remillard past Southern Maine goaltender Whitney Padgett 1:53 into the second period to give UNE a 1-0 lead [Watch]. Jessie Scott scored her first of the night later in the frame as she grabbed a loose puck near the top of the circle and skated in front of the net a buried her shot to the right side. [Watch]
 
The Nor'easters (10-4-1) extended their advantage to 3-0 at the 17:17 mark of the third. Southern Maine (6-10-2) attempted to clear the puck behind the net, but it took an odd bounce and landed at the feet of Meagan Accardi who put it in for her first of the season [Watch]. Scott took the puck from coast-to-coast and scored on a backhanded shot in the final minutes for her second of the game. [Watch]
 
Julia Benjamin stopped all 16 shots she faced to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Padgett had 27 saves for the Huskies.
