BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of New England men's golf team improved seven strokes from round one to card 643 and tie for 5th place out of the 13 competing institutions at the two-day Bowdoin College Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday (Sep. 8) at Brunswick Golf Club.
Nichols College captured the title with a score of 623 (314-309), eight shots better than Husson University (631), which made a charge up the leaderboard in round two with a score of 303. The University of Southern Maine (632: 319-313) and the host Polar Bears (638: 317-321) came in ahead of the Nor'easters (325-318) and Bates College (324-319).
UNE's 36-hole total received contributions from
Dylan Andrews at 157 (78-79),
Colin Casamento with 160 (83-77),
Tom Higgins at 162 (80-82), and
Hunter Drew with 164 (84-80).
Husson's Eric Dugas was the low individual (150) by two, turning around a four-stroke overnight deficit with an even-par 72 on Sunday.
The Nor'easters are off until September 17 and the Thomas College Invitational at Waterville Country Club.
