GORHAM, Maine -- The University of New England men's golf team took second in the modified-format Southern Maine Cup on Friday (Sep. 27) at Gorham Country Club.

USM hosts the annual event, which breaks away from the traditional scoring of collegiate golf and pairs teammates for an 18-hole round with three sections -- six holes in the format of best ball, six holes of scramble, and six holes of alternate shot.

The Huskies totaled 204 to secure the top spot, while the Nor'easters (217), Saint Joseph's College of Maine (225), and the University of Maine-Farmington (241) rounded out the field.

Dylan Andrews and Hunter Drew combined for a round of 70 to lead UNE, which also received a 73 from the duo of Marcus Costa and Rob Prentiss, and a 74 out of Tom Higgins and Cal Crosby.

USM's Greg Kalagias and Ryan Dee carded the low number of 4-under-par 67.

The Nor'easters will be at Augusta Country Club on Thursday for the Mariner Invitational hosted by Maine Maritime Academy.
