BRISTOL, R.I. -- Lindsay Bruns and Bailey Lynch scored goals in the final nine minutes to lift the University of New England to a 3-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey victory over Roger Williams University on Tuesday afternoon (Sep. 24) at Bayside Field.

The game had been tied for nearly half an hour before Bruns collected a rebound on the right and deposited the go-ahead tally into the left side of the net with 8:21 remaining. Lynch added some insurance with 2:05 on the clock, drilling home a feed from Haylee Angster.

Winners of three straight, the Nor'easters (4-5, 3-0 CCC) have captured each of the 14 all-time meetings against the Hawks, who saw their six-game unbeaten streak come to an end (6-2, 2-1 CCC).

UNE opened up the scoring a couple minutes into the 2nd quarter, when Reanna Boulay hammered in a pass from Kendra MacDonald. RWU evened things in the 23rd minute, as Hannah Gaffney finished a scramble in the crease.

Liz Sargent turned in a pair of saves for the Nor'easters, while her counterpart for the hosts, Callie Flanagan, recorded seven stops.

UNE, which finished with more than double Roger Williams in shots (21-10) and penalty corners (19-9), will be back in Biddeford on Friday (6 p.m.) to entertain Salve Regina University.
