WILBRAHAM, Mass. -- The University of New England posted a total of 328 and used a tiebreaker to move into the 2020 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Golf Championship, as the 18-hole qualifying round was played Thursday (Sep. 19) at the Country Club of Wilbraham.
The Nor'easters were even with reigning champion Endicott College (328) at the end of the day, but advanced from the field of seven to join Nichols College (310), Western New England University (316), and Roger Williams University (327) in the April 25-26 finals. The Bison, as the top qualifier, will host the championship in the spring.
Tom Higgins led UNE with a 7-over-par round of 79.
Dylan Andrews followed with an 81,
Colin Casamento added an 82, and
Hunter Drew supplied an 86 to reach the 328 total. The tiebreaking score (90) was recorded by
Marcus Costa -- two strokes better than the Gulls' fifth number (92).
Jake Willis of Nichols was the low individual with 74.
The Nor'easters will now return to Tuesday's track (Waterville Country Club) for the University of Maine-Farmington Invitational on Sunday.
