BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England field hockey team earned a 3-1 victory over Keene State to open its season Saturday afternoon at UNE Blue Bolt Field.
Alexa Koenig scored the first goal of her career to put the Nor'easters up early in the first quarter. Keene State controlled play to start the second half with four penalty corners and five shots, but the UNE defense was able to keep the Owls scoreless.

Kendra MacDonald with a pass in front of the cage for a goal. Keene State trimmed the deficit to one late in the third on a man-up goal by Kayla Klein.
Reanna Boulay converted on a penalty stroke with just under five minutes to play to put the game away.
Each team had 10 shots on the afternoon.
Liz Sargent stopped four shots for UNE. Rachel Loseby made two saves for the Owls.
The Nor'easters are back in action at home on Wednesday night against #15 Bowdoin at 7 p.m.
