Bishop’s scores late to edge UNE, 41-40

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Bishop's University (Quebec) women's rugby team scored in the 77th minute to get past the University of New England, 41-40, at Waterhouse Field on Friday evening.
 
The team's traded tries through most the first half until the Gaiters scored the final two of the opening period to take a 26-14 lead into the break. Zoe Adams and Alex Wing-LaClaire each scored for UNE in the half.
 
Down 36-26 with just over 15 minutes left to play, the Nor'easters scored tries by Fiona Thomas and Mariah Chase to grab a 40-36 lead, their first of the day.

Adams was 5-for-6 on conversion kicks and was awarded Player of the Match by Bishop's. Chase and Alyssa Ehrenfried were also strong for the Nor'easters.

UNE will visit Sacred Heart in Fairfield on Saturday, April 13 for the Pioneer 7's Tournament.
