Nor’easters storm through Curry, 18-9

MILTON, Mass. – Behind four goals from both Casey Conwell and Molly Camelo, the University of New England women's lacrosse team defeated Curry College, 19-9, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Six different Nor'easters scored over the first 11:39 of play as UNE jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Curry built a slight comeback with two goals each by Allie Wysocki and Colleen Donnelly to close the gap to 8-4, but a pair from Conwell down the stretch gave the visitors a 12-4 advantage at halftime.

The margin was no less than seven in the second period.
 
Nichole Carvalho and Olivia Carpenter each had three goals for the Nor'easters (7-6, 4-1 CCC); Carpenter also tallied a match-best 11 draw controls and team-high five ground balls. Taylor Hopkins made eight saves during the initial 39 minutes, before Maritza Nary contributed five the rest of the way in her first action of the season.

Donnelly provided three goals for the Colonels (8-7, 2-4 CCC). Jessica Ginaitt made 11 stops defending the cage.
 
The Nor'easters return home against Salve Regina University on Saturday, April 13 at 4 p.m.
