#8 Colby sets back Nor'easters

Statistics

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Bridget Horwood netted four goals to pace No.8 Colby College in an 18-2 women's lacrosse result against the University of New England on Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 5) at Bill Alfond Field.

The nationally-ranked Mules (2-0) jumped in front behind scores from Horwood and Grace Langmuir, but the Nor'easters (1-1) split the difference on the next possession when Keara Dwyer found Nicole Corriveau for the rookie's second tally in as many games.

But Colby maintained control and built the cushion up with 12 consecutive goals (14-1). UNE ended the run with 21 minutes left in the 2nd half, when Anna Stowell scored from Nichole Carvalho.

Langmuir set-up Horwood twice and matched her with a team-high four points. Robyn Pirie, Emma Banks, and Chiamaka Ubani all supported with two goals. Starting goalie Izzy Scribano made one stop in just over 20 minutes of work.

Taylor Hopkins totaled seven saves for the Nor'easters, who will visit Bridgewater State University.
