Nor'easters begin CCC play with 22-3 performance at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. -- The University of New England women's lacrosse team rattled off 12 unanswered goals to close the opening half and kick-off Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action with a 22-3 victory over Nichols College on Sunday afternoon (Mar. 24) at Vendetti Field.

Seven different players scored during the run for the Nor'easters (4-4, 1-0 CCC) -- part of the dozen that found the back of the cage in the contest.

Nichole Carvalho led the way with career-best six tallies, and Keara Dwyer added three goals and two assists. Olivia Carpenter, Molly Camelo, Casey Conwell, and Katelyn Nartiff all supported with a pair of markers.

Camelo totaled seven draw controls, while Julia Benjamin chipped in with four assists, 10 ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Taylor Hopkins and Katie Babineau made two saves apiece in split time between the pipes.

For the Bison (2-4, 0-1 CCC), Miranda Smith had two goals. Emily Eagan notched 20 saves in 43 minutes of work.

UNE is slated to entertain Babson College on Wednesday (5 p.m.).
