BEVERLY, Mass. – Jillian Gibbs broke a tie early in the third period to send the top-seeded Endicott College women's ice hockey team past fifth-seed University of New England, 4-2, in the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) Championship semifinals on Saturday afternoon at Bourque Arena.

The Gulls (18-4-4) advance to Sunday's final against the third-seed Morrisville State College, which topped Nichols College by the same spread.

The Nor'easters finish the season with a program-best 16-10-1 record.

Endicott, which went 3-for-4 on the power-play in the match, used the extra skater to take a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Lexi Klein.

UNE drew even just 100 seconds into the middle period as Katie Babineau tallied an unassisted score. Klein again for the hosts, and Jessie Scott on the Nor'easters' only power-play chance, added to the respective totals to send the game into the third knotted at 2-2.

Gibbs scored the winner 4:37 into the final frame, and tacked on an empty-netter in the last second to produce the deciding margin.

Vendela Jonsson picked up the win in net for the Gulls with 18 saves. Julia Benjamin made a season-best 38 saves for UNE in the loss.
