HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The University of Rochester women's lacrosse team earned a 16-11 victory over the University of New England on Thursday morning at Hilton Head Prep School.
The teams were even at 5-5 with 9:20 to go in the first half after a goal by
Nichole Carvalho. She finished with a team-high three goals for UNE. The Yellowjackets began to pull away from there, scoring the final four of the first half to take a 9-5 lead.
Carvalho opened the second half with another score before Rochester answered with four goals of its own to build the largest lead at 13-6. The Nor'easters were able to trim the deficit to four, but never pulled closer.
Jamison Seabury led the Yellowjackets with five goals, including four in the first half. Maggie McKenna added three and an assist.
Julia Benjamin and
Molly Camelo each had two goals for UNE while
Anna Stowell provided three assists.
The Nor'easters return home on Sunday, March 17 against Castleton. Opening draw at UNE Blue Bolt Field is at 1 p.m.
