BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of New England women's swimming squad completed the two-day Maine State Meet on Saturday (Dec. 7) at Greason Pool on the campus of Bowdoin College.

Practically all of the top performances in each event by the Nor'easters were season-bests, led by Haley Griffin with six. She was UNE's best time in the 50-fly (28.77), 50-free (25.97; -1.45), 100-fly (1:04.01), 100-back (1:04.01), 200-back (2:18.46), and 100-free (55.80).

McKenna Riley paced the team in the 500-free (5:43.33), 50-back (30.35; -2.91), 200-free (2:05.99), and 100-IM (1:07.13). Mikayla Sargent touched first for the Nor'easters in the 50-breast, 400-IM (5:17.01), and 200-breast (2:50.48).

Melissa Jakubowski in the 200-IM (2:26.20), Blake Boulia in the 100-breast (1:15.96), Nicole Senechal in the 1,650-free (20:30.45), and Olivia Roy in the 200-fly (2:29.88) led UNE in other swims. Four efforts were less than one second off the team benchmark -- Jakubowski in the 50-back (31.11), Boulia in the 50-breast (35.11), and Maggie Miller in both the 50-fly (29.03) and 50-free (26.70).

The three relay groups were equally successful against previous results this year. The 200-free of Griffin, Haleigh Kology, Miller, and Riley (1:46.93), the 200-medley of Riley, Sargent, Miller, and Griffin (1:58.09), and the 400-free of Griffin, Kology, Jakubowski, and Riley (3:57.16).

The Nor'easters resume competitive races on January 18 when Colby-Sawyer College comes to Biddeford.
