MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The University of New England continued its unbeaten start with a 7-0 victory over Salve Regina in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action at St. George's Rink on Friday afternoon.
Kyra Yu got things started with an unassisted tally at the 12:31 mark of the first.
Jessie Scott put the visitors in front 2-0 with a power-play goal later in the period.
Shannon Nadeau and Yu added helpers on the score.
UNE (6-0-1, 4-0-1 CHC) took a commanding lead with a four-goal second period.
Maeve Crehan found
Shannon Upton just 1:45 into the period.
Kenady Nevicosi and
Bella Crugnale each put in their third of the year over a span of 1:10 to extend the lead to 5-0.
McKenna Remillard scored the first of her career with 30 seconds left off assists from
Abbi Charvat and Crugnale.
Meghan Hamilton added an unassisted goal in the third. She was one of four Nor'easters to record a multi-point outing. Yu and Crugnale each had a goal and an assist. Charvat dished out two assists.
Julia Benjamin made 18 saves in the win and has not allowed a goal in her last 190:27 in net. The Nor'easters are tied for second in the nation in scoring defense (0.57 goals per game) and shutouts (4). Madison Jalbert played the first two period for Salve Regina (1-8-0, 1-4-0 CHC), making 11 saves. Hailey Martin had seven stops over the final 20 minutes.
