Endicott trips up #11 UNE, 4-2

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Zach Mazur scored two goals to help the Endicott men's ice hockey team to a 4-2 victory over  #11 University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Harold Alfond Forum on Friday night.
 
The Gulls got onto the board just 1:55 into the game as Eric Manoukian found James Winkler near the net for an easy goal to the top corner. Following a game misconduct penalty, the Nor'easters were left with a long power-play opportunity and made the most of it as Tyler Seltenreich tied the game 1-1. [Watch]
 
Mazur scored his first of the night with 3:04 to play in the first as he gained control off a face off in the UNE zone buried a shot from the right side. Luke Rodgers hit Mazur with a pass through the slot for a goal to start the third period.
 
The Nor'easters added another power play goal as Ryan Bloom corralled a loose puck in front of the net and buried it to trim the deficit to 3-2 with five minutes remaining in the second period [Watch]. Rodgers extended the Gulls lead to 4-2 with a goal at the 12:42 mark of the third period.
 
Shots favored UNE 32-25 on the night. Conor O'Brien made 30 saves for the visitors. Ben Churchfield had 21 stops in the loss.
 
The teams return to action tomorrow afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena in Beverly, Mass. at 3 p.m.
