BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Aine Scholand won a pair of events and set a pool record to lead Simmons University in a 185-77 result against the University of New England women's swimming team on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 16) at the Campus Center Pool.

In the first individual race of the day, Scholand clocked an 18:22.23 in the 1,650-free to best the 18:25.32 of Colby College's Carly Rushford from November 2009. Scholand later claimed the 100-back (1:04.93).

Laura List captured a pair of close ones for the Sharks, first topping Melissa Jakubowski of the Nor'easters by 0.40 seconds in the 200-free (2:07.67). She then edged teammate Meaghan Driscoll by 0.59 in the 50-fly with a time of 28.38; UNE's Haley Griffin was less than one second behind List in third place (29.34).

Driscoll picked up narrow wins over teammates in both the 50-breast (35.40; +0.17) and 100-breast (1:15.77; +0.37), as did Anna Leedham in the 500-free (5:42.22; +0.22). Sarah Singleton won the 400-IM (4:45.08) for Simmons, while both Lauren Howard in the 50-back (30.93; +0.38) and Kiera Bragdon in the 50-free (27.72; +0.18) touched just in front of UNE's McKenna Riley.

The Nor'easters received their two event triumphs from Griffin (100-free; 56.82) and Maggie Miller (100-fly; 1:07.24).

The Sharks teamed Singleton, Katelyn Quinlan, Leedham, and List together to best UNE's Olivia Roy, Mikayla Sargent, Miller, and Jakubowski in the 200-medley relay to open the meet. The 200-free relay was even closer (0.91 apart), with Simmons' Driscoll, Howard, Scholand, and Quinlan barely stretching past the Nor'easters' group of Griffin, Haleigh Kology, Miller, and Riley (0.91 apart).
