Hickey powers UNE at NCAA regional

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Jake Hickey posted an impressive 18th-place finish to guide the University of New England men's cross country team at the NCAA Division III New England Championship on Saturday (Nov. 16) on the campus of Bowdoin College.

The Nor'easters came in 22nd out of the 54 competing teams with a score of 689; Williams College (24) and Colby College (93) topped the field to earn automatic bids to next week's national championship race in Louisville, Ky.

Hickey's 8K time of 25:24 was just 33 seconds off the lead pace set by Aidan Ryan of Williams (24:51), and registered All-New England status with the others in the top 35.

UNE's score received its next contributions from Anthony Chase (127th; 27:06) and Chris DeYoung (156th; 27:40). Nolan Alexander (203rd; 28:20) and Alec Walker (208th; 28:24) were just outside to first half of the 384 runners.
