Jake Hickey crossed the line 5th out of a field of 157 to lead the University of New England men's cross country team in a fifth-place showing at the Maine Championship on Saturday (Oct. 5).
The Nor'easters (145) landed behind Bates College (34), Colby College (38), Bowdoin College (89), and the University of Southern Maine (102) in the pack of 13 institutions.
Hickey's 8K time of 26:18 was good for All-Maine status -- the top group was paced by identical 25:56.8 times from Colby runners Eli Decker and Tyler Morris.
UNE's team score was supported by
Anthony Chase (36th; 28:30),
Jeff Waters (45th; 29:05),
Chris DeYoung (46th; 29:06), and
Donovan Duffy (50th; 29:18).
The Nor'easters will travel to the Runnin' Monks Invitational next Saturday at Saint Joseph's College.
