BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Two goals by Claire Fitzpatrick in the early stages of the 4th quarter lifted No.7 Williams College to a 4-2 decision against the University of New England in a rainy field hockey contest Sunday afternoon (Oct. 27) at UNE Blue Bolt Field.

A day after falling for the first time since the season opener, the Ephs (12-2) broke away from a tied game when Fitzpatrick converted a feed from Isabel Perry in the 47th minute. Just 3:02 later, Elizabeth Welch sent a ball through a crowd in front for Fitzpatrick to tip in at the right post.

The Nor'easters (10-9) trailed by two coming out of halftime, but had things level by the conclusion of the 3rd period. The only penalty corners of the frame proved to be the equalizer, as a pair of drives by Reanna Boulay found the back of the net at 41:22 and 43:53. Boulay added to her team-leading goal total (13) with assists from Kendra MacDonald and Haylee Angster on both plays.

The scoring began at the 6:13 mark as Fitzpatrick assisted on a give-and-go tally by Emma Ticknor. Williams recorded all seven shots attempted in the first 15 minutes.

With 1:22 to go before the midway break, Welch dribbled through the defense on the left side and provided the visitors with a 2-0 cushion.

Abby Lloyd had two saves for the Ephs, who ended the first-ever meeting between the teams with a 16-7 advantage in shots and 4-3 edge in corners.

Liz Sargent totaled five stops for UNE, which now has six setbacks to nationally-ranked foes this year. The Nor'easters conclude the regular season with a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match against Gordon College on Saturday (1 p.m.).
