BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Ashlynn Autrey scored a pair of tries in the final 31 minutes to help Bowdoin College extend its five-point halftime edge into a 27-12 women's rugby decision against the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 26) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

The Polar Bears opened the day with a try by Amber Ramos, but Alyssa Ehrenfried answered for the Nor'easters near the midway mark of the first period. The ensuing conversion from Mariah Chase had the hosts with a 7-5 lead. Late in the frame, Bowdoin's Sage Kashner recorded a try and conversion to establish a 12-7 cushion at the break.

Autrey and UNE's Salma Bezzat traded scores in the second half to keep things close, but Autrey's try with 10:05 remaining put the visitors in control. Ella Garnett added a try in the waning moments to produce the final margin.

Chase and Bezzat led the Nor'easter defensive effort with 22 and 15 tackles, respectively -- two of the six players to reach double digits. Delaney Hansen contributed another 14, Madison DeRosa recorded 12, Colby Williams tallied 11, and Emily Machado notched 10.
