Nor'easters storm through SJC, 195-52

Results

STANDISH, Maine -- The University of New England women's swimming team captured all 14 events to come away with a 195-52 victory over Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday evening (Oct. 25) at the Harold Alfond Center.

Melissa Jakubowski, Haley Griffin, and Maggie Miller each picked up two individual wins for the Nor'easters. Jakubowski took the 50-back (31.41) and then touched first in the 100-IM (1:08.39), barely ahead of teammate McKenna Riley (1:08.43). Before claiming the 100-back (1:05.83), Griffin's 50-free (26.63) was just enough to edge the time of Ali Beauregard of SJC (27.15). Miller also got the better of Beauregard in the 100-free (1:00.14) by 0.70 seconds, and then triumphed in the 50-fly (30.27).

Riley was among six others from UNE to find the wall fastest in a race, with her 2:09.48 in the 200-free. Blake Boulia had to work for the 50-breast, as her 36.71 was just 0.49 in front of the Monks' Autumn Nostrom. Mikayla Sargent (100-breast; 1:19.24), Haleigh Kology (500-free; 5:56.79), Taylor Gibson (1000-free; 12:27.99), and Olivia Roy (100-fly (1:08.08) supported the cause with wins of their own.

Jakubowski, Sargent, Miller, and Griffin teamed up to take the 200-medley relay (2:02.63). The same result came from a slightly different group of Griffin, Kology, Miller, and Jakubowski in the 200-free relay (1:49.83).

The Nor'easters get two weeks off prior to a November 9 visit to Mount Holyoke College.
