Norwich uses strong second half to defeat UNE, 24-10

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Norwich University women's rugby team pulled away in the second half in a 24-10 victory over the University of New England at Barbara J. Hazard Field on Sunday afternoon.
 
UNE got on the board first as Alyssa Ehrenfried scored a try at the 27:58 mark of the first half. Norwich pulled in front 10-5 at the half after tries by Kennedy Mack and Shweta Mane. The Nor'easters made a great defensive stop as time expired in the first, stopping a would-be try in the closing seconds.
 
Brooke Sorbello knotted the score for UNE with a try early in the second half. The Cadets took over from there as AnnaLeigh Runion and Mack each added tries. Emma Parizo hit both conversion kicks for the final margin.
 
UNE was 7-for-9 on line outs and scrums. Norwich won all 10 of its scrums and was 3-for-4 on line outs.
 
The Nor'easters will close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 26 at home against Bowdoin at 2 p.m.
