SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Jake Hickey claimed a 31-second victory at the Western New England University Invitational to lead the University of New England men's cross country team to a runner-up finish out of the 14 competing squads on Saturday morning (Oct. 19).

The Nor'easters (74 points) wound up behind only Bridgewater State University (64), and ahead of the next closest, Worcester State University, by 20 (94).

After Hickey's 8K time of 25:43 bested the field of 168, Anthony Chase clocked 26:39 to register 9th place. Jeff Waters (12th; 26:47), Chris DeYoung (24th; 27:27), and Donovan Duffy (35th; 28:00) rounded out UNE's team total.

The Nor'easters return to action in two weeks (Nov. 2), when they set out to repeat in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship at Colt State Park in Rhode Island.
