NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's rugby team pulled away in the final 10 minutes to earn a 39-19 victory over the University of New England at Mercer Field on Saturday afternoon.
Jordyn Enos scored four tries to lead the Chargers, including the first two of the match to put Colby-Sawyer in front 10-0 with 11:28 to play in the first half. UNE got on the board with a try by
Alyssa Ehrenfried on the final possession of the half to trim the deficit to 10-5 at the break.
The teams traded scores and conversion kicks to begin the second half as the Chargers led 24-19 with 18:10 to play. Enos scored twice for Colby-Sawyer while
Mariah Chase and Ehrenfried each added tries for UNE.
Colby-Sawyer would take control from there, scoring three times in the final 9:17 to put the match away. Madison Rettenmaier, Bailey Burt, and Jasmine Serdahl scored to close out the victory.
The Nor'easters return home on Sunday, Oct. 20 against Norwich at 1 p.m.
