Nor'easters down Nichols, 3-1

DUDLEY, Mass. -- First-half goals from Bailey Lynch and Grace Grenier started the University of New England towards a 3-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey victory over Nichols College on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 12) at Vendetti Field.

The Nor'easters (7-7, 6-1 CCC) are now unbeaten in their last 15 meetings with the Bison (3-9, 0-7 CCC), including a 7-0 result in Biddeford three weeks ago.

Lynch got the visitors on the board in the 10th minute, and assists by Reanna Boulay and Haylee Angster setup Grenier's first tally of the year in the 25th minute. Grenier then fed Kendra MacDonald in the 51st minute to make it 3-0 UNE.

Nichols snuck on the board with 44 seconds remaining to break up the shutout, getting a goal from Mackenzie Doran.

The Nor'easters, who amassed a 21-4 advantage in shot attempts, received a couple saves out of Liz Sargent. Brooke Misbach totaled 11 on the other end for the Bison.

UNE returns home to face Roger Williams University on Wednesday (4 p.m.).
