Nadeau lifts UNE over Wesleyan, 4-3

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. Shannon Nadeau scored the game-winner with 3:08 to play as the University of New England defeated Wesleyan 4-3 on Tuesday night at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.
 
After opening a 3-0 lead, the Nor'easters allowed the Cardinals to climb back and tie the game. Miranda Nestor evened the score on a goal with just under four minutes to play. Nadeau added the unassisted winner soon after.
 
Carly Perreault put UNE in front only 13 seconds into play as Kyra Yu and Julianne Sheehan found her off the opening faceoff. Jessica Tolzman and Yu added power-play goals to push the lead out to three.
 
Wesleyan ended the shutout as Cali Stevens scored in the final minute of the second. Kendall Carr lit the lamp on a power-play to start the third and cut the deficit to 3-2.
 
Annie Rademacher stopped 33 shots in her second start of the season for the Nor'easters. Sam Smith had 15 saves for the Cardinals.
 
UNE returns to Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) play on Friday, Feb. 8 at Salve Regina at 7 p.m.
