EVERETT, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's ice hockey team battled back from a three-goal deficit to defeat #12 University of New England 7-5 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tilt on Saturday night.
The Nor'easters (14-5-1, 8-4-0 CCC) looked like they were going to run away with the game as the visitors built a 3-0 lead just 3:09 into play.

Liam Darcy, and
Austin Morgan all helped to build the UNE lead.
Following the first Leopard score, the teams traded power-play goals to end the opening period. Morgan found
Tucker Ross for a marker with 7:12 to play. Jack McKenelley made the score 4-2 with a goal in the final minute of the period.
Morgan recorded his second-straight multi-goal game as he put the Nor'easters in front 5-2 to begin the second. Joey O'Leary and Georgy Gorodtsky trimmed the lead to 5-4 with goals to close out the period.
Although shots were tied 11-11 in the third, the Leopards (7-9-4, 5-6-1 CCC) made the most of their attempts, scoring three times to seal the victory.
McKenelley knotted the game 5-5 just 20 seconds into the period. Connor Busch put Wentworth in front with 13:18 to play and Ethan Weiss added an empty-netter with seven seconds left.
Ryan Bonnvie shut the door for the Leopards after coming in midway through the first with 22 saves and one goal allowed. Thomas Draper started in net for Wentworth and made 11 saves while letting in four goals.
Tate Sproxton had 33 stops for the Nor'easters.
UNE returns to the ice at home for a key CCC matchup on Friday, Feb. 1 against #10/12 Endicott at 7 p.m.
