Five-goal third pushes #13 UNE over Morrisville State, 7-3

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.
– The #13 University of New England men's ice hockey team used multi-goal games by Ryan Bloom and Tyler Seltenreich to power past Morrisville State 7-3 on Saturday at the Ice Plex in Morrisville, N.Y.
 
The Mustangs made the most of a first period power-play opportunity as Ian Wood put the hosts in front 1-0. Justin Dixson knotted the game up just under a minute later on his second goal of the season off an assist from Jeff Eppright.
 
Eppright put the Nor'easters in front for good with a power-play score with 4:24 to play in the second period and the visitors held a 2-1 advantage into intermission.
 
Brady Fleurent found Seltenreich 34 seconds into the third for the Nor'easters first of five goals in the period. Austin Morgan and Bloom added goals only 12 seconds apart, extending the UNE lead to 5-1.
 
After a Morrisville State score by CJ Stubbs, Bloom put home his second of the night. He later found Seltenreich on a power-play to make it 7-2 in favor of UNE. Stubbs added another for the Mustangs in the closing minutes.
 
The Nor'easters dominated possession, outshooting the hosts 38-13 on the night. Ben Churchfield stopped 10 shots for UNE. Jorgen Johnson made the start for the Mustangs and made 29 saves to lead the team.
 
UNE returns home on Tuesday, Jan. 15 against Colby. Puck drops at 7 p.m
