BRUNSWICK, Maine --
Jacob Hickey claimed the eighth spot out of 223 runners to help the University of New England men's cross country team take seventh at the Bowdoin College Invitational on Saturday (Sep. 29).
The Nor'easters totaled a score of 194 to end up behind the host Polar Bears (38), Connecticut College (68), Bates College (72), Colby College (93), the University of Southern Maine (124), and Brandeis University (176) in the field of 19 squads.
Hickey's 8K time of 26:02 was less than a minute off the lead pace set by Sean MacDonald of Bowdoin (25:11).
Factoring in the UNE number was
Ben Wright (35th, 26:57),
Donovan Duffy (56th, 27:38),
Anthony Chase (57th, 27:39), and
Caleb Pulliam (86th, 28:36).
The meet also doubled as the 2018 Maine Championship race, for which UNE placed 5th out of 12. Hickey's performance netted All-Maine status.

The Nor'easters are next slated to compete in the Western New England University Invitational on October 13.
