BIDDEFORD, Maine -- During the field hockey match on September 26, both the University of New England and visiting Gordon College will Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer® and wear gold shoelaces to raise awareness and funds for local children and their families through the national non-profit organization, Go4theGoal®.
Since the campaign started in 2011
(go4thegoal.org), thousands of athletes in all sports and all levels have worn gold laces in support of the cause. From every $5 pair of laces, $4 goes towards pediatric cancer support, as does 100% of all donations. For UNE, the proceeds will be donated to either the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland or the Maine Children's Cancer Program in Scarborough, based on the needs at that time.
Donations can be made on the day of the contest at UNE Blue Bolt Field; either in cash, or checks made out to "Go4theGoal."
